About

Mike Mason is an engineer and entrepreneur who founded Climate Care, one of the world’s first carbon trading businesses.

Climate Care became one of the best recognised and trusted brands in the carbon market.  It financed the world’s first carbon and cook-stove project; provided early funding support to the voluntary carbon market’s Gold Standard.

In 2010 Mike was appointed Energy Advisor to Mohammed Nasheed, President of the Maldives, and charged with making the country the world’s first carbon neutral country. Sadly a coup cut the $3Bn program short only days before its formal launch and initial funding.

Mike currently has two major active interests.  He chairs the Green Ammonia Working Group – helping to develop ammonia as a safe, easy to store and transport, fuel to replace oil and gas, and the development of plants adapted to semi-arid and degraded environments to provide mankind with new and sustainable sources of carbon to replace fossil carbon.

Mike is also an investor in transformational green technologies including perovskite solar PV, exciting new solutions to energy saving domestic water heating, new catalysts for converting CO2 +H2 into non-fossil hydrocarbons, and new technology to produce proteins to replace soy as animal feed.
